Day 6 - Calitzdorp to Montagu. 188 km Approx.

It's another full day today which begins with the House River pass and its multiple valleys before bringing us back out onto the undulating terrain of the Klein Karoo. The other name for this area is the Kannaland, which refers to Kanna - a psycho active plant called Sceletium tortuosum, that has been used for centuries for medicinal and spiritual purposes.

We pass through the town of Ladismith, famous for its cheese and soon we are heading over some familiar territory as Ronnies appears on our left this time and it's a fast downhill into Barrydale. Instead of heading back over the pass as we come from on day 2 - we continue on the R62 towards Montagu.

Once voted Village of the Year, not only for the gorgeous views, beautiful architecture and excellent hot springs - but for the homeliness and hospitality of the people. It is the gateway to the Klein Karoo region.
